Starting 1 May 2023, we have stopped registration for the manual car license (D). however you can still continue to register for the automatic car license (DA).
It’s important to remember that with a manual license you’ll be able to drive both manual and automatic cars once you’ve passed your test. That means by choosing to learn to drive a manual will give you more options when buying or renting a vehicle. Manual license also can upgrade to heavy vehicle license after 3 years
WHY MANUAL ?
- Manual (D) License is valid to Drive both Manual and Automatic Transmission Cars while Automatic (DA) License is only valid to drive automatic transmission cars only.
- Learning Manual (D) License enables student to become a more skillful driver, especially in using the clutch pedal for changing gears which is not found in Automatic transmission cars.
- A Manual (D) License holder can upgrade their license into Good Driving License (GDL) & Public Service Vehicle License (PSV) after 3 years while an Automatic (DA) license holder is not allowed to.
- Qualified Age for car – 17 years old and above
